Our stay at Harbor House Inn was deeply relaxing and beautiful. Polat, Cory, and the rest of the staff made us feel genuinely welcome and truly part of the place. It feels like a small piece of heaven on earth.

We wined and dined here for one incredible evening filled with magnificent views surrounded by beautiful original wood floor to ceiling. The meal was cohesive, brilliant, and showcased hyper local ingredients. The staff were stellar, especially Ella, Sequoia, Adam, and Jason. Our sommelier, Todd, listened to what type of wine we were looking for (x3 bottles), and made perfect choices each time. In Todd we trust! Ella was the complete star as the seasoned staff member, and really made our evening special. Each course, each sip of wine, and each interaction with the staff was truly a memorable experience.

Amazing hyper-seasonal and local ingredients. This is the pinnacle of Californian cuisine. Explore exquisite food with precise techniques, pan-Asian sensibility, and Nordic influence in an intimate setting. The staff were warm, personal, and exuded joviality. This is undoubtedly one of the best restaurants in California. The boutique hotel that houses the restaurant is understated. It had great views, but don't expect pampered service, amenities, and freebies in the room. You are paying for the tranquility and the proximity to the restaurant (inn review 4/5). Visited November 2025. ---- A very long drive from San Francisco that almost makes us doubt whether it's worth it. The staff welcomed us in and sat us down on the patio overlooking a secluded cove. Sitting in front of the fireplace under the blanket, the sound of the waves and the cool late autumn wind reminded us of why we fell in love with Northern California in the first place. Some canapés were served, and they gently introduced you to the restaurant, of its sensibility and philosophy. The long drive in wet weather no longer mattered. Dish after dish, the Harbour House Inn kept us excited and curious. I love how the chef introduced unfamiliar flavors. On the salad course, there were greens we recognized, fresh or pickled, and once in a while, we would bite into something new: whether it's the kind of bitterness that reached the root of your tongue, or herbal grassiness that maybe you can recognize in a hoppy IPA. It really set the tone for the meal. It's about exploration and curiosity for us. We loved everything, but the highlight of the night had to be the potato dish. A new potato on a bed of first-of-the-season chentrelle mushrooms foraged in the morning. As the broken yogurt broth infused with fir on the property was poured onto the potatoes, the milk protein solidified on the potatoes, forming tiny dots of white crystals. I couldn't overstate how delicious the dish is, and for me, the dish is Harbour House Inn. It's unexpected, hyper-seasonal, and one can really sense the warmth it expresses.

Our dinner was memorable and made even better by Sequoia and Adam indulging our small talk about pets, past careers, wedding photography, the (delightful) remoteness of Elk, CA. and of course the dishes which were so excellently presented.

Stayed two nights and had all my meals at the inn, including the dinner tasting menu. The food was very clean tasting and was sourced from high quality original ingredients. It involved both sea animals and sea vegetables, which was interesting. The service was extraordinary. Staff members were friendly and took the effort to remember our names and what we were celebrating. They ensured we got to experience a variety of what the inn has to offer in terms of food. The overall vibes were peaceful and calming. I liked that everyone used inside voices.

Amazing location with views of the bay below. We went to the restaurant for lunch and were somewhat underwhelmed by the food relative to its reputation and location. Love that the food is locally sourced and very fresh, but the flavor profile left me wanting more. I’m not sure i would come back but the service and location made it a positive experience overall

Harbor House Inn is truly exceptional. From start to finish, the experience was flawless. The food was incredibly thoughtful, beautifully curated, precisely prepared, and served with care and intention. Every course felt purposeful, and the flavors were both surprising and deeply satisfying. The wine pairing was equally inspired, unique, delicious, and perfectly matched to the menu. The property itself is stunning, beautifully maintained, serene, and perfectly integrated into the landscape. Every detail feels intentional and calm, creating a sense of retreat the moment you arrive. What truly sets Harbor House apart, though, is the people. The service and staff were kind, generous, and genuinely attentive without ever feeling formal or forced. From the initial booking, to the daily rhythm of the stay, through departure, everything was seamless and welcoming. The Mendocino coast is something to behold, wild, grounding, and breathtaking, and Harbor House is the perfect place from which to experience it. This will absolutely become a yearly retreat for me. A special thank you to Matthew Kammerer and the entire team for their warmth, generosity, and excellence. This was not just a Michelin star meal or a stay, it was an extraordinary experience, and one I won’t forget. Always Remember "Be A Swan" Thank You!! Highly recommended.

Our dinner at the Harbor House Inn this Monday was nothing short of extraordinary. We were welcomed by Adrienne, who led us to the back terrace where fireplaces and an ocean sunset set the tone for the evening. The experience unfolded like a ballet; graceful, intentional, and beautifully choreographed. We began with amuse-bouche in the study before transitioning to the main dining room. The timeless elegance of the place set the ideal stage for what felt like a symphony of flavors. Each course was artfully presented, some on locally made pottery or in abalone shells. We also loved choosing our sake cups, a thoughtful detail that made the experience feel personal and immersive. Every course stood uniquely on its own, making it impossible to choose a favorite. The wine pairing also complemented the tasting menu beautifully. The coordination of the service was impeccable. Service flowed seamlessly, moving with a gentle precision. A heartfelt thank you to Ella and the entire team for their attentiveness, grace, and dedication to detail. They transformed an already exquisite meal into an unforgettable evening.

I did not stay here but had dinner here only. The grounds are beautiful and the service is excellent. The food is on a whole different level just phenomenal. The taste, presentation and every dish was magic. Every dish, you can tell from presentation, ingredients were given great respect. Flavors are light and surprising. Every details were carefully thought through. I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner with wine pairings and would highly recommend it.
